The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Displeasure Regarding Sizing Modifications

Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.

This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel without notifying all shoppers about the modification.

Digital Channels Backlash

Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.

Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches similar services.

It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.

Size Classification Updates

Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

User Accounts

A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.

Required Changes

Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.

It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
